The Miami Open: March 20 – April 2, 2017
The Miami Open presented by Itaú is one of Miami’s most exciting events. With the best in sports, fashion, food and entertaining under South Florida’s blue skies, the two-week tennis event is one that attracts tourists from all over the world. Those attending the tournament located in Crandon Park, Key Biscayne, will have the opportunity to witness athletes such as Serena Williams, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer compete.
Formerly known as The Sony Open, the tournament annually books approximately 15,000 hotel nights each year and generates a county-wide economic impact of $386 million which is comparable to a Super Bowl. Since its founding in 1985, the Miami Open has grown from a local tournament into an international event that brings the world’s best players to Miami and exposes the City’s brand globally. This year, the Miami Open will receive over 14,000 hours of global TV coverage and will be broadcasted to 193 countries/territories to nearly 70 million viewers worldwide. The Miami Festival: March 3 – 12, 2017
The Miami Film Festival is a charity that connects art with audiences, and fosters a value for cinema for future generations. The mission of the festival is to bridge cultural understanding and encourage artistic development by provoking thought through film. With sponsors such as The Knight Foundation, American Airlines, Telemundo & more, the festival is recognized for its long list of talent including actors, directors and producers from all over the world.
This year, Richard Gere (actor, producer and humanitarian who has more than 40 years of memorable starring roles and box office hits.) will be one of the many talented artists attending the event. Fairchild’s International Orchid Festival: March 10 – 12, 2017
Known as one of Fairchild’s signature events, The 15th Annual International Orchid Festival is a weekend where more than 10,000 orchid plants will grace the garden at Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden. Located off of one of Miami’s signature streets, Old Cutler, the garden is an 83-acre botanic garden home to many rare tropical plants.
Included in the Orchid Festival will be a lovely outdoor Tea Garden in the Baobab Courtyard beside the historic Gate House. Under the shade of a tent you will find beautifully set tables and volunteers waiting to serve you a delicious tea complete with scones, savories, and sweets and of course wonderful teas blended especially for Fairchild. Live music is provided. The cost is an additional $20.00 per adult, $15.00 per child under 12 after admission. Open Friday, Saturday & Sunday, 10:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased directly at the event.
Jazz in the Gardens Music Festival: March 18 – 19, 2017
Jazz in the Gardens Music Festival is a two day concert at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, FL. Joining the stage this year is Robin Thicke, Herbie Hancock, Jill Scott & more! Aside from the wonderful talent during the music festival, there will also be a National Poetry Contest, where participants are eligible to win up to $10,000 in prize money.

The Deering Seafood Festival: March 26, 2017
The Annual Deering Seafood Festival on the Bay is a day of delicious catch from the sea, celebrity chef cooking demos, fun-filled adventures for kids, Virgin Island stilt walkers, a Bahamian Junkanoo musical parade and on-going live entertainment.
The Seafood Festival offers entertainment for all ages; the Estate’s Educational and Interpretive Staff operates Discovery Cove, where kids can experiment and explore. For the less intrepid, the Lil’ Shrimp Kids Zone gets kids going with fun activities and healthy tastings and recipes for families. The Zone also offers unlimited play on inflatables, creative activities, and a kid-friendly menu when hunger strikes. On the main stage there is continuous live entertainment throughout the day. Around the Estate, on-going activities include the Pelican Skipper pontoon boat rides to Chicken Key, natural areas tours, and an Artist Lane with local artisans’ unique creations.
